President of the National Dialogue Party, MP Fouad Makhzoumi, held a meeting via Zoom at his office in downtown Beirut with Canada’s Ambassador to Lebanon, Chantal Chastinay, in the presence of Political Adviser Dr. Carol Zouein and the Political Attaché at the Canadian Embassy, Canon Beauclair. They discussed local, regional, and international developments.

During the call, Makhzoumi praised the relations between Lebanon and Canada and stressed the importance of strengthening them, particularly given the role of the Lebanese-Canadian diaspora around the world in consolidating ties between the two countries. He renewed his call for support for Lebanon as it confronts mounting social, economic, and healthcare challenges.

Makhzoumi thanked Canada for standing by the Lebanese people, particularly in the aftermath of the Beirut Port explosion. He renewed his call for a transparent investigation under international supervision, stressing that the Lebanese people have the right to know who was responsible for this horrific crime.

Makhzoumi also reiterated his insistence on forming a government composed entirely of independent figures, from the prime minister down to the ministers, with a clear economic recovery plan to lead the country out of its crises.
