President of the National Dialogue Party, MP Fouad Makhzoumi, hosted Beirut Governor Judge Marwan Abboud for a lunch at his residence, in the presence of Makhzoumi Foundation President Mrs. May Makhzoumi; Political Advisor Dr. Carol Zouein; Dr. Fouad Ghaziri; Yahchouch Municipality President Engineer Karl Zouein; Makhzoumi Foundation Director General Mr. Samer Safah; and Engineer Ibrahim Zeidan, Executive Deputy Chairman of the National Dialogue Party’s Administrative Board. They discussed the situation in Beirut and the capital’s needs.

Following the meeting, Makhzoumi said the discussions addressed urgent issues affecting the capital and its residents. He stressed that what was happening to Beirut and its people could no longer be ignored amid the economic, living, and health crises. He emphasized that the COVID-19 pandemic was worsening, while the purchasing power of aid had diminished as the Lebanese pound continued to depreciate. He voiced concern over food security for Beirut’s residents and the Lebanese people in general, stressing the need to expedite the implementation of a social safety net.

Makhzoumi noted that devastated Beirut had yet to recover from the port explosion. He thanked the governor for his efforts to assist those affected and called on Beirut Municipality to stand alongside and support the governor, mobilizing its capabilities and resources for projects that would contribute to the reconstruction of the capital.
