President of the National Dialogue Party, MP Fouad Makhzoumi, accompanied by Political Adviser Dr. Carol Zouein, visited caretaker Interior Minister Mohammad Fahmi at his office at the ministry. They discussed the general situation in the country.

Makhzoumi said the discussion addressed the difficult economic and living conditions facing the Lebanese people, particularly the rising cost of living and persistent power outages. He commended the efforts made by the Minister, within the scope of his authority and available resources, to safeguard citizens’ security and safety, particularly amid economic disorder and uncontrolled price increases.

The discussion also covered possible forms of support for Civil Defense, given the challenges it faces. Makhzoumi described the organization as Beirut’s first line of defense. “We have supported Civil Defense and are ready to provide further assistance,” he said, reaffirming his support for these heroes and expressing hope that they would be granted their rights and receive all the moral and financial support they deserve.

Regarding the government formation process, Makhzoumi expressed hope that a government composed of genuinely independent figures would be formed and that it would have a genuine recovery plan. “We hear nothing about programs to address the problems; instead, we see struggles over ministerial portfolios!” he said.

He stressed that the government should be formed from outside the existing political establishment, remain free from corruption, and make resolving the country’s current domestic problems its top priority. He also called on officials not to use foreign factors as an excuse, arguing that the looting of public funds, corruption, and the dissipation of depositors’ funds were all the result of domestic actions in which foreign parties had played no part.

Makhzoumi concluded by expressing his hope that Lebanon and its people would reach safety and stability.
