Prime Minister-designate Mustapha Adib received Fouad Makhzoumi, President of the National Dialogue Party, who called for a small government composed of independent figures. Makhzoumi informed the Prime Minister-designate that he was calling for a transparent investigation into the Beirut Port explosion under international oversight. He also stressed that the government should make the reconstruction of Beirut one of its top priorities.
Makhzoumi emphasized the need to safeguard depositors’ funds and criticized the new circular issued by the Governor of Banque du Liban.
“We do not want a political government disguised as one of independent figures,” Makhzoumi said, stressing the importance of judicial independence and efforts to recover misappropriated funds.
