President of the National Dialogue Party, MP Fouad Makhzoumi, received the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jan Kubis, at his office in downtown Beirut. They discussed the situation in Lebanon and the region.

Following the meeting, Makhzoumi said that their discussions covered political and economic developments, as well as serious regional developments and ways to protect Lebanon from their negative repercussions.

He thanked the United Nations for its continued concern for Lebanon, stressing the importance of international support for the country, particularly amid the financial and economic crisis and the popular uprising that began on October 17.

Makhzoumi reiterated the need to accelerate the formation of a rescue government that would meet the people’s demands and restore the international community’s confidence in Lebanon.

He expressed surprise that the caretaker government was not fulfilling its responsibilities by working to help Lebanon overcome the crises affecting all segments of Lebanese society.
