President of the National Dialogue Party, MP Fouad Makhzoumi, received Norway’s Ambassador to Lebanon, Hilde Haraldstad, at his office in downtown Beirut, in the presence of political adviser Carol Zouein. They discussed the general situation in Lebanon and the region, as well as developments in the Israeli aggression against Lebanon.
Following the meeting, Makhzoumi stressed the need to strengthen relations between Lebanon and Norway across various fields. He emphasized that the priority today is to pursue a diplomatic solution that would put an end to Israel’s devastating war and the massacres being committed across various parts of Lebanon, particularly in the Bekaa Valley and the south. He reiterated the need to implement all international resolutions, especially UN Security Council Resolution 1701 in all its provisions, as well as Resolutions 1559 and 1680, in addition to adhering to the implementation of the Taif Agreement.
Makhzoumi also stressed the need to convene an open-ended session of Parliament, with successive rounds of voting, to elect a President of the Republic, paving the way for the formation of a government that can fulfill its national responsibilities at this pivotal stage in Lebanon’s history.
