President of the National Dialogue Party, MP Fouad Makhzoumi, received Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon Alaa Moussa at his residence, in the presence of Political Adviser Carol Zouein. The ambassador was accompanied by Egyptian Consul and Counselor Mohamed El-Mashad. Discussions focused on the situation in Lebanon and the region.
Makhzoumi said the meeting was an opportunity to congratulate Ambassador Moussa on assuming his new post in Lebanon, as well as to congratulate him on Egypt’s successful presidential election, which resulted in President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi being elected to a third term.
Makhzoumi and the ambassador discussed developments in Gaza and southern Lebanon. Makhzoumi reiterated the importance of safeguarding Lebanon’s neutrality and keeping it out of any conflict, particularly amid the presidential vacuum and the absence of functioning state institutions. He also stressed the importance of fully implementing all provisions of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.
Makhzoumi also called on the ambassador to work toward strengthening bilateral relations and expanding trade between the two countries.
