President of the National Dialogue Party, MP Fouad Makhzoumi, accompanied by Political Advisor Carol Zouein, visited Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri at his residence in Ain el-Tineh. They discussed the general situation in the country, particularly the presidential election.
Following the meeting, Makhzoumi stated that the visit was intended to extend Christmas and New Year greetings to Speaker Berri and all the Lebanese people. He expressed hope that the country was entering a new phase in which everyone could live together in a Lebanon that belongs to all its people.
Makhzoumi congratulated Speaker Berri on the tremendous achievement of bringing the war to an end. He noted that Lebanon had now entered a new phase that required everyone to work together to rebuild the country, put the past behind them, extend a hand to one another, and move forward. This, he stressed, required all parliamentary members to attend the session on January 9 to elect a President of the Republic, as Speaker Berri had called for.
Makhzoumi called for the election of a unifying president who would secure the largest possible number of votes. He expressed hope that the entire Parliament would vote for a figure with these qualities, emphasizing the need to build the next phase on a foundation of unity and to show the world that Lebanon stands united and that everyone is working together for the country.
Makhzoumi concluded by wishing the Christian community and all the Lebanese people a Merry Christmas.
