President of the National Dialogue Party, MP Fouad Makhzoumi, accompanied by his Political Adviser, Dr. Carol Zouein, concluded his visit to Washington, during which he met with officials at the White House and within the U.S. administration responsible for the Lebanese and regional files. He also met with officials at American research centers specializing in Middle East affairs.
Makhzoumi also met with Lebanese expatriate figures and community representatives residing in the Washington and Houston areas, in preparation for joint efforts aimed at supporting reformists in the upcoming parliamentary elections, which are considered pivotal elections for bringing about change and rebuilding Lebanon.
As part of his Washington visit, Makhzoumi met with journalists from CNN and The Washington Post. He also met with Amos Hochstein, a former official in the administration of former U.S. President Barack Obama, who played a prominent role in advancing the awarding of gas exploration contracts in 2016 and was recently appointed to oversee global energy security. Hochstein has long served as an adviser to President Biden.
Makhzoumi expressed his hope that Hochstein would visit Lebanon to follow up on efforts to advance the oil and gas file.
