President of the National Dialogue Party, MP Fouad Makhzoumi, accompanied by Political Advisor Dr. Carol Zouein, visited the Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rai, in Bkerke to congratulate him on the occasion of Palm Sunday. They discussed the general situation in Lebanon.

Makhzoumi said that His Beatitude had a clear vision for unifying the country and finding genuine solutions to the crises engulfing Lebanon. He added that he agreed with His Beatitude on the need to form a government, stressing that the current vacuum could not continue. He noted that a government must be formed to restore expatriates’ confidence in the country, encourage them to invest and help their homeland, and regain the trust of the international community, whether through an agreement with the International Monetary Fund or by engaging with donor countries and institutions.

Makhzoumi pointed to the worsening crises, foremost among them the electricity crisis, emphasizing that solutions must come from within Lebanon. The first step, he said, was to form a government composed entirely of independent figures, from the Prime Minister to the ministers, and free from the corrupt political establishment. Only then, he stressed, could Lebanon recover.

Makhzoumi affirmed his support for His Beatitude, highlighting the need to convene an inclusive national meeting under international auspices. He added that domestic cooperation was essential to rescuing the Lebanese people and their homeland.
