President of the National Dialogue Party, MP Fouad Makhzoumi, received Russian Ambassador Alexander Zasypkin at Beit al-Bahr, in the presence of Political Adviser Dr. Carol Zouein. They discussed the situation in Lebanon and the region.

Following the meeting, Makhzoumi said that their discussions covered political and economic developments and the situation in the region, emphasizing the importance of international support for Lebanon.

“We appreciate Russia’s role in supporting Lebanon’s stability,” he said. “We stressed to the Ambassador that the October 17 uprising needs all the support and solidarity it can receive, because the Lebanese people deserve a better life.”

He also called for making use of Russian expertise to establish cooperation aimed at enhancing Lebanon’s economic potential, particularly in technology and light industries.

Separately, Makhzoumi reiterated his rejection of the way the government had pushed through the 2020 state budget. He stressed that Lebanon urgently needed an economic recovery plan to lift the country out of its financial and economic crises and meet the aspirations of the popular uprising that had been ongoing since October 17.
