President of the National Dialogue Party and MP Fouad Makhzoumi received Swedish Ambassador to Lebanon Tomas Brundin at his office in downtown Beirut, in the presence of Political Adviser Dr. Carol Zouein. Discussions focused on the latest local and regional developments.
Makhzoumi said the meeting provided an opportunity to become acquainted and congratulate Ambassador Brundin on assuming his new post in Beirut. He stressed the importance of maintaining the strongest possible relations between Lebanon and Sweden and enhancing cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the economic and trade sectors.
Makhzoumi reiterated that Lebanon’s recovery is linked to restoring the state’s full authority and ensuring that weapons remain exclusively in the hands of legitimate state institutions, alongside implementing reforms and restoring confidence in public institutions. These steps, he noted, would help restore the international community’s confidence in Lebanon and strengthen its support for the country.
