President of the National Dialogue Party, MP Fouad Makhzoumi, led a highly successful visit to Washington at the head of a parliamentary delegation representing various political blocs and approximately 59 MPs. The delegation held a series of productive meetings, beginning with discussions with officials and experts at the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

MP Makhzoumi presented IMF officials with an economic roadmap endorsed by the political blocs participating in the delegation. The roadmap received a clearly positive response and considerable interest from the Fund, and an agreement was reached with the delegation on a mechanism for moving forward with its implementation.

The delegation also held a series of meetings with officials at the World Bank and the US administration, as well as with members of the US Congress and representatives of several research centers.

During these meetings, delegation members emphasized the importance of electing a president of the republic who possesses the qualifications Lebanon needs to recover and move forward, and of forming a government headed by a figure with the same qualifications.

Makhzoumi reaffirmed the importance of Lebanon’s relations with its Arab surroundings, particularly the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which has outlined a roadmap for Lebanon that reflects the aspirations of the Lebanese people and fulfills their ambitions.

It is worth noting that this visit continued the initiative launched by MP Makhzoumi, who had led the same delegation a month earlier on visits to Stockholm, which currently holds the rotating presidency of the European Union, and Brussels, home to the European Union’s institutions.
