President of the National Dialogue Party, MP Fouad Makhzoumi, received the Commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), Major General Stefano Del Col, at his residence, in the presence of Makhzoumi Foundation President Mai Makhzoumi and Political Advisor Dr. Carol Zouein.

Major General Del Col was accompanied by a UNIFIL delegation comprising Political Advisor Jack Christofides; UNIFIL Chief of Staff Brigadier General Jean-Pierre Fagué; Assistant Military Officer Lieutenant Colonel Olderico Ricci; Camp Commander Captain Kyle Cavanaugh; and Legal Advisor Mr. Rashed Arfi. They discussed local, regional, and international developments.

Makhzoumi praised UNIFIL’s role in maintaining peace, thanking the force for the support, security, and various services it provides to southern Lebanon and its residents, particularly amid the difficult health conditions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. He also commended the cooperation between the Lebanese Army and UNIFIL.

Makhzoumi stressed that repeated Israeli violations threatened to undermine security along Lebanon’s southern border. He expressed confidence in UNIFIL’s role, in cooperation with the Lebanese Army, in putting an end to these violations and ensuring the implementation of international resolutions, particularly UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
