President of the National Dialogue Party, MP Fouad Makhzoumi, received British Ambassador Chris Rampling at his residence, in the presence of Political Adviser Dr. Carol Zouein. They discussed the situation in Lebanon and the region.
Following the meeting, Makhzoumi thanked the United Kingdom for its efforts to support Lebanon and for its commitment to supporting the Lebanese Army, particularly in its fight against terrorism. He stated that Britain is a partner of the international community in helping Lebanon overcome the crisis it is facing.
Regarding government formation, Makhzoumi once again commended Mustapha Adib’s position rejecting the formation of a government under conditions imposed by the political forces that had undermined the country and jeopardized its economic and social security.
He also praised French President Emmanuel Macron’s determination to follow up on developments related to the French initiative, whose primary objective was to help Lebanon and its people and push the ruling political class to begin implementing reforms immediately.
Makhzoumi said Macron was right to accuse the political class of betraying the country’s interests and placing its narrow personal and political interests above those of Lebanon and its people. He reiterated that no one would be able to help Lebanon unless the Lebanese helped themselves.
