President of the National Dialogue Party, MP Fouad Makhzoumi, hosted a luncheon for British Ambassador Chris Rampling, in the presence of Political Adviser Dr. Carol Zouein. They discussed the situation in Lebanon and the region.

Following the meeting, Makhzoumi emphasized the importance of strengthening Lebanese-British relations, thanking Britain for its continued willingness to assist Lebanon. He renewed his call for support for Lebanon across various sectors, particularly education and technology, and stressed the importance of benefiting from British expertise in these fields. He also noted that strengthening trade exchange would contribute to improving Lebanon’s economic conditions.

On another note, Makhzoumi acknowledged that the new government included new faces with specialized expertise. However, he pointed out that the country was going through a difficult period on all fronts and that the government should therefore have presented an exceptional ministerial statement capable of fulfilling the aspirations of the Lebanese people while restoring the confidence of the international community in Lebanon.

He argued that the statement approved by the government the previous day was nothing more than an identical copy of the statements issued by successive governments over the past 30 years, which had formed the corrupt system that prompted the October 17 uprising. He affirmed that he would not grant confidence to this government.
