President of the National Dialogue Party, MP Fouad Makhzoumi, received Belgian Ambassador Koen Vervaeke at his office in downtown Beirut. They discussed regional and international developments in light of the war in the Gaza Strip and the latest developments in southern Lebanon.

During the meeting, Makhzoumi highlighted the importance of strengthening relations between Lebanon and Belgium, emphasizing the need for cooperation across various fields, as well as the importance of European support for Lebanon in international forums, including Brussels’ continued support for the country.

Makhzoumi also stressed the need to bring the ongoing war in Gaza to an end. He reiterated the importance of keeping Lebanon out of any conflict and implementing United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 in its entirety and by all parties. Strongly condemning the Israeli massacres targeting children, women, and civilians in general, he called for a definitive end to the war in Gaza.

Makhzoumi stated that Europe’s contribution to finding solutions to the issue of displaced Syrians would relieve Lebanon of economic and social burdens, as the country can no longer bear the negative consequences of this issue for the Lebanese people.

Makhzoumi added that expediting the election of a President of the Republic and forming a government capable of addressing the ongoing crises are the fastest ways to save Lebanon.
