President of the National Dialogue Party, MP Fouad Makhzoumi, and his wife, Mrs. May Makhzoumi, hosted a breakfast reception at their residence in honor of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Lebanon, Walid Bukhari. The event was attended by a number of MPs and prominent figures, members of the Beirut Dialogue Forum, Beirut Mayor Engineer Ibrahim Zaidan, as well as members of MP Makhzoumi’s team.
In his remarks, MP Makhzoumi warmly welcomed His Excellency the Ambassador, affirming that the visit reflects the depth of the historic relationship between Lebanon and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He stressed that this relationship has been built on shared principles, values, and a common destiny, rather than short-term interests.
Makhzoumi praised the Kingdom’s leading and active role, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in supporting Lebanon and standing by its side through its various political and economic crises. He emphasized that Saudi support for Lebanon has always been, and continues to be, steadfast and unconditional, driven by a genuine commitment and a firm belief in the need to preserve Lebanon’s sovereignty and stability.
Makhzoumi also commended the ongoing efforts of Ambassador Bukhari, under the direct auspices of His Highness Prince Yazid bin Farhan, to protect Lebanon from collapse and strengthen its sovereignty and stability. He noted that these efforts have left a clear mark on efforts to support Lebanon across international forums.
Makhzoumi renewed his commitment to working diligently to advance the reform process through the implementation of the Taif Agreement and international resolutions, particularly Resolutions 1701 and 1559. He stressed the importance of disarming Hezbollah and all militias, ending the parallel cash-based economy, implementing financial and administrative reforms, and rebuilding the judicial authority on the foundations of competence, independence, and transparency.
Makhzoumi concluded by affirming that Beirut, the steadfast Arab capital, will never forget that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has always been among the first to stand by its side, especially when support was scarce.
