President of the National Dialogue Party and MP Fouad Makhzoumi received Bulgarian Ambassador to Lebanon Mr. Yassen Tomov at his office in downtown Beirut, in the presence of Political Adviser Dr. Carol Zouein. Discussions focused on ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Lebanon and Bulgaria, broaden prospects for joint cooperation, and address local and regional developments.
Makhzoumi emphasized Bulgaria’s important role in supporting Lebanon through its European relations, as well as the need to strengthen international support for Lebanon and assist state institutions and the Lebanese Army in helping the country overcome its crises and restore stability and confidence.
Makhzoumi reiterated that Lebanon’s recovery begins with restoring the state’s authority over all its territory and ensuring that weapons remain exclusively in the hands of legitimate state institutions. He also stressed that reforms and the restoration of confidence in public institutions are fundamental to securing any sustainable international support. He underscored that Lebanon’s national interests must remain the sole guiding principle behind its national decisions, while preserving its Arab and international relations and strengthening its openness to friendly countries.
