President of the National Dialogue Party, MP Fouad Makhzoumi, hosted a dinner at his residence in honor of British Ambassador Ian Collard and the Embassy’s Political Officer, Gavin Tensch. The dinner was attended by Mrs. May Makhzoumi, President of the Makhzoumi Foundation; Political Adviser Dr. Carol Zouein; and Yachouch Mayor Karl Zouein. Discussions focused on the situation in Lebanon and the region.
Makhzoumi underscored the importance of Lebanese-British relations, expressing gratitude for the United Kingdom’s continued concern for Lebanon and its stability, particularly amid the difficult circumstances facing the country and the challenges confronting the Lebanese people.
Makhzoumi called on Britain and the international community to stand alongside the Lebanese people, especially given that the current government is no different from its predecessors in the way it was formed and in its reliance on power-sharing quotas. He stressed that it cannot meet the aspirations of the Lebanese people to emerge from the tunnel of economic, social, and political crises.
He expressed confidence that the Lebanese people, particularly the younger generation, and the international community would remain committed to holding parliamentary elections as a genuine first step toward change.
